The press service of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports that a supporter of the Islamic State terrorist organization has been identified in the Fergana region and a criminal case has been initiated against him.

18-year-old resident of Uchkuprik district of Fergana region U. M. I got acquainted with extremist ideas through the Internet. Becoming their supporter, he tried to penetrate the territory of Syria through Turkey: in April 2021 he arrived in Turkey, but he failed to cross the border with Syria to join the militants of the “Islamic State”. In September, W.M. returned to Uzbekistan.

At home, he gathered around him a group of like-minded people who gathered in the city of Kokand and in the Uchkuprik region, and among them led propaganda for the terrorist organization “Islamic State”.
