Human rights activists from Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan appealed to Parliament Speaker Talant Mamytov to have the Jogorku Kenesh take control of the investigation into the legality of the detentions of journalist Bolot Temirov and akyn Bolot Nazarov.

Bir Duino was also asked to verify the legality of the searches at Temirov Live’s office and the seizure of equipment from there on the day of Temirov’s arrest on January 22.

According to human rights activists, Temirov’s detention may be related to his investigation into the connections of relatives of the head of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev with the sale of fuel oil to the state company Kyrgyzneftegaz.

“Events may have a political aspect, when law enforcement agencies, by their actions, demonstrated the control and execution of political orders by certain interested parties,” Bir Duino believes.
