A citizen of Kyrgyzstan Talgat Temirkan uulu has been held since January 28 in the detention center #13 in Taraz town, Kazakhstan, the National Torture Prevention Center Director Bakyt Rysbekov said.

On the night of January 6, Talgat Temirkan uulu received a gunshot wound to his arm while driving near the central square of the city, where mass riots were taking place, and was hospitalized. He was in the local hospital until January 14, then police officers took him away, tortured and ill-treated him, and released him at about 12 at night.

Because of the curfew they detained him again, he was in custody for 5 days, then he went home.

“He stayed at home until January 28. The citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic did not report torture and cruel treatment. A search was conducted in the house where he lived and four live ammunition were found that could not have been there. The mother and the man himself claim they were planted,” reports the Center.
