Most of all, prices rose in Zhambyl and Atyrau regions, Total.kz reported.

Responsible officials were severely reprimanded for the unjustified increase in food prices in the regions of Kazakhstan, a Total.kz correspondent reports.

At the meeting, the government was informed that in some regions there is still a high rise in food prices, the news agency said.

In particular, according to the information of the Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov , as of April 6, prices rose the most in the Zhambyl region – by 4.2 percent and in the Atyrau region – by 3.8 percent. The smallest growth was recorded in the East Kazakhstan and Akmola regions.

Total.kz said First Deputy Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov proposed to issue reprimands to the deputy akims of the two regions, adding that local executive bodies should identify problematic issues and cover them at the expense of the local budget.

“Five out of seven main indicators show growth in six regions. These are Akmola, Aktobe, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay regions and the city of Shymkent. In seven regions, positive dynamics is observed in four indicators. These are Atyrau, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar, Turkestan, North Kazakhstan regions and the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. I support Alikhan Askhanovich’s proposal for punishment in the form of a severe reprimand to the responsible deputy akims of Atyrau and Zhambyl regions for allowing an unjustified rise in prices for socially significant goods, ”Prime Minister Askar Mamin said at the meeting .
