Washington has indeed sent Berlin a notice that it is going to impose sanctions against the Russian pipelayer Fortuna and its owner, News.ru reported.

The German authorities express their regret in this regard, a spokesperson for the country’s Ministry of Economy said, DPA reports.

According to News.ru, the ministry stressed that the US authorities are seeking to revise the position of Germany on the project. At the same time, Germany accused the US of interfering in the country’s foreign and energy policy by applying sanctions under the CAATSA (Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.
