Alisher Usmanov’s Metalloinvest asked the Uzbek authorities to reduce tariffs for the transportation of raw materials by rail-PODROBNO.UZ

General Director of “Metalloinvest” Nazim Efendiev told how to reduce the cost of metal production in Uzbekistan. According to him, a serious premium in the final product of Uzmetkombinat is the cost of transporting raw materials and semi-finished products, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports.

“We don’t have equalized tariffs between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In Russia, there is a cheap tariff for transportation, we come to Kazakhstan – it is higher, in Uzbekistan it is even higher. And this is not an export transit. it was a fair and even tariff that encouraged Russian entrepreneurs and manufacturers to bring their product to Uzbekistan,” Efendiev said during the Innoprom exhibition in Tashkent.

According to him, Metalloinvest has been exporting semi-finished products to Uzbekistan for four years.

“We provide up to 30 percent of Uzmetkombinat’s need for raw materials. Last year we supplied about 300,000 tons of hot briquetted iron to Uzbekistan. In the structure of the cost of rolled metal, transportation tariffs are painful. Tariff reduction would encourage and increase the flow of semi-finished products and raw materials exported from Russia for processing to Uzbekistan,” he said.
