The Department of Internal Affairs of Batken Oblast opened a criminal case on the death of 37-year-old AKIpress journalist Arzygul Galymbetova. The correspondent died on March 25 due to cardiac arrest.

The Department of Internal Affairs reported that on the day of her death, Galymbetova turned to the police with a statement about the blogger Batmakan Zholbolduyeva, the host of the Batma-bat youtube channel. Galymbetova said that Zholbolduyeva slandered her and offended her honor and dignity.

In the evening of the same day, the journalist went to the neurology department of the local hospital because she felt unwell. Despite the medical assistance provided, Galymbetova died at night.

The police opened a criminal case under the article “Causing death by negligence” and appointed an examination.

“33-year-old Batmakan Zholbolduyeva was detained as part of an investigation and placed in a temporary detention center,” the press service of the Batken Oblast Department of Internal Affairs reported.
