The export of transport services in Belarus in 2021 reached a record high of $4.3 billion. This was discussed at the final board of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

“The transport system of Belarus, despite all the challenges, continues to work steadily. The efforts of the Ministry of Transport in 2021 were aimed at improving the conditions for the functioning of transport, developing its infrastructure, ensuring the country’s sustainable development goals. For this, the state programs “Transport Complex” and “Roads of Belarus” were implemented. “, – said the press service.

According to the results of work for the last year, the main indicators of the socio-economic development of the transport complex have a positive trend. “A key indicator has been met – the export of transport services. The share of international transportation in the total volume of cargo turnover is about 76%, in passenger turnover – 27%. In 2021, the volume of exports of transport services is the highest in the history of the sovereign republic – $ 4.3 billion,” the ministry.

Container transportation by rail is rapidly developing. Nearly 800,000 TEU containers were transported in the East-West-East traffic (a 1.2-fold increase by 2020).

“The passenger turnover indicator for the past year also has a positive trend. The drivers of growth were the railway (120%) and aviation (160%), which provided almost half of the total volume of the indicator. This was facilitated by the resumption of international passenger rail traffic between Belarus and Russia – an increase of 3 , 4 times,” the press service explained.
