The foreign ministers of the CIS countries will meet on October 14 in Minsk. This was announced today at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, BelTA has learned.

“On October 14, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will take place in Minsk,” said Maria Zakharova. “Let me remind you that Belarus is chairing the CIS this year.”

The foreign ministers of the CIS countries will exchange views on topical issues of the international agenda and interaction in the CIS format, discuss the draft statements on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth, on the development of cooperation in the field of ensuring biological safety. “At the ministerial level, a joint statement will be adopted on strengthening the convention on the prohibition of biological and toxin weapons,” said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. assessment of events in our common past, assistance in expanding access to archival documents, coordination of the work of scientists. “
