The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported nine deaths as a result of ammunition explosions in a military unit located in the Zhambyl region. Two more people are reported missing.

“As a result of an explosion in a military unit stationed in the Bayzak district of the Zhambyl region, according to the latest data, only 9 people died, including employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a military unit, a paramilitary guard and a military prosecutor’s office. The identity of the victims is being established. The data on the missing 4 people are being investigated,” the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

According to preliminary information, 49 employees of the Emergency Situations Department were admitted to the hospital. A task force of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, headed by Minister Yuri Ilyin, is working at the scene.
