The Kumtor criminal case against former President Askar Akayev has not been stopped. This 24.kg lawyer said the former president Aibek Samarbekov.
According to him, the investigation really has no questions to Askar Akayev today.
However, the investigation has not ended yet, so it is too early to say that all charges against the former president have been dropped.
“The investigation continues, the criminal proceedings have not been stopped. All persons involved in this case are being questioned as suspects. Among them is Askar Akayev. One criminal case has been initiated against Kumtor, where my client is involved. Askar Akayev answers all the questions, but there is no question of terminating the criminal proceedings against him. It is not known when he will be summoned for interrogation next time. However, no restrictions have been imposed on Askar Akayev, he can move around the country freely,” said Aibek Samarbekov.
