There are positive trends in the ferrous metals market in Azerbaijan-TURAN

(Read the full article on turan.az)

This year in Azerbaijan there is a certain increase in the production and export of ferrous metals and their products, as well as a serious decrease in the import of ferrous metals. It is too early to say whether this trend is related to the change of leadership of the iron and steel monopoly in Azerbaijan, Turan reported.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in the four months of this year, the production of steel casting (87.300 tons) increased by 7.4%, construction rebar (82.600 tons) – 4.6%, steel pipes (11.100 tons) – 52.1%.

However, in general, the situation in the metallurgical industry leaves much to be desired: the volume of production in the field of metallurgy and production of finished metal products for January-April of this year (270 million manats) decreased compared to the same period last year due to the deterioration of indicators for finished metal products, the SCC reports.

From the beginning of January to May 1 of this year, more than 49,000 tons of ferrous metals were exported, 2.3 times more than in the same period in 2020. Export revenue was $31.4 million. This is 2 times more than last year. During this period, about 166, 000 tons of ferrous metals were imported , which is 48% less than in January-April 2020. Importers spent $ 2,265. 2 million manat on the purchase of ferrous metals abroad, which is 40% less than in the comparable period last year.
