Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Land Relations,” Vlast.kz reported, citing Akorda reports.
The amendments provide for a ban on the lease and sale of agricultural land and for afforestation to foreigners and foreign companies, Kazakh companies with a foreign share, stateless persons, research centers with international participation, as well as kandas.
In addition, the terms of previously leased agricultural land by foreigners and Kazakh companies with a foreign share cannot be extended and will be in possession only until the expiration of their use.
