In 2021, 24.5 thousand crimes of corruption were detected in Russia, which is the highest indicator in the last eight years. This is evidenced by the data of the portal of legal statistics of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
The department noted that compared to 2020, the number of such crimes increased by 16%.
Almost half (12.1 thousand) of detected corruption crimes are bribes. Over the seven months of this year, their number increased by 27.4% compared to the same period in 2020. In every third case, the amount of the bribe was no more than 10 thousand rubles. The three leaders in terms of identified bribes include the Perm and Stavropol Territories, as well as St. Petersburg.
For seven months of 2021, the total damage from corruption crimes made up 39.4 billion rubles. This is 7 billion more compared to the same period in 2020.
The department added that in Russia as a whole, the number of economic crimes continues to grow. Since the beginning of 2021, more than 78 thousand of them have been identified, which is almost seven thousand more than last year. Material damage from them is about 171 billion rubles.
