Azerbaijan increased electricity production by 7.2 percent year-on-year to 17.5 billion kilowatt-hours in January-August, the State Statistics Committee said.

Thermal power plants increased electricity production by 7.2 percent year-on-year to 15.9 billion kilowatt-hours, hydropower plants – by 14.3 percent to 945 million kilowatt-hours, solar plants – by 16.1 percent to 37.4 million kilowatt-hours. Wind power plants generated 57.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, 16.9 percent less than in January-August 2020.

Electricity production declined by 1.1 percent year-on-year to 25.8 kilowatt-hours in 2020.
