Peskov named the condition for the meeting in the “Normandy format”-NEWS.RU

(Read the full article on NEWS.RU)

Meeting in the Normandy format requires someone to do their homework and prepare some kind of foundation. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov in the program “Moscow Kremlin. Putin “on the TV channel” Russia “.

“In order for the heads of state to gather, they still need someone to do their homework and prepare some kind of foundation. Here the ministers will first get together and understand whether the foundation is being probed or not probed”, –said the representative of the Kremlin.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, said that currently the only platform within which it is possible to resolve the issue of resolving the conflict in Donbass is the Normandy format with the participation of Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called Kiev’s calls for an immediate meeting in the “Normandy format” while refusing to implement the Minsk agreements “foreign policy schizophrenia.” He stressed that the “Normandy format” should carry out the work entrusted to him by the leaders of the four states. This means creating conditions for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements.

The conflict in Donbass began in the spring of 2014 after a coup in Kiev, when part of the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine refused to obey the new authorities of the country and organized the so-called self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. They are separated from the rest of the country by a demarcation line.
