The State Duma adopted a law on the indexation of pensions by 8.6%-NEWS.RU

The State Duma at a plenary session on January 20 adopted in the third and final reading amendments on the indexation of pensions for non-working pensioners by 8.6% from January 1, 2022, TASS reports. As the First Vice Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov noted earlier, after indexation, the average old-age insurance pension this year will be 18,984 rubles.

Make a decision to index pensions by 8.6% instructed government of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The government has amended the draft law on social pensions for representatives of the minority peoples of the North, already adopted in the first reading. The State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs approved the initiative for the second reading.

According to Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the lower house of the Russian parliament, the document can be adopted immediately in the second and third readings.

“This decision is designed to protect our citizens in the face of increased inflation: to compensate pensioners for the additional costs that have arisen due to rising prices”, —wrote he is in his Telegram channel.

As Elena Bibikova, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, said earlier, if the amendments are adopted, pensioners will begin  receiving  indexed pensions from February 2022. Also, after the entry into force of the relevant law, the Russians will receive compensation in addition to the already received pension for January 2022, which was increased by 5.9%.
