(Read the full article on News.ru)

US President Joe Biden, during a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, warned the politician about impending sanctions. A representative of the American administration told reporters about this at a special briefing on Russia, News.ru reported.

According to him, the head of the White House “said the US will retaliate this week in connection with the hacker attack on SolarWinds and interference in the 2020 elections.” These restrictive measures were taken in response to actions by the Russian government and intelligence, which operate against American sovereignty, the US official said. He recalled that during the first conversation between the leaders of the two countries, Biden also expressed concern about Russia’s actions abroad, according to TASS news agency..

US President Joe Biden signed a decree on new sanctions against Russia on April 15. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that these restrictive measures heighten the degree of confrontation between Russia and the United States, News.ru reported. According to her, Moscow’s response to such actions will be inevitable. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, called the  new US sanctions “a common story.” He urged his colleagues not to be distracted from work.

As NEWS.ru wrote, the chairman of the State Duma committee Leonid Slutsky said that the new sanctions from Washington actually devalue the constructive tone of the conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States, which took place on April 13. According to him, after that it is very difficult to talk about the prospects for a meeting between Putin and Biden.
