Foreigners can lose Russian citizenship if, at the stage of obtaining it, they reported false information about themselves. This was told to TASS in the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The decision to acquire the citizenship of the Russian Federation is subject to cancellation if it is established that this decision was made on the basis of false documents submitted by the applicant or knowingly false information, and also if the applicant did not intend to bear the obligations established by the legislation of the Russian Federation for citizens of the Russian Federation , –reported agency within the department.
It is also noted that Russian citizenship can be annulled if the purpose of its acquisition was to carry out activities that pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation.
The fact of knowingly communicating false information and using forged documents is established in court.
As reported, on July 24, 2020, the law on the simplified acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation came into force. The corresponding document was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 24, 2020.
