The peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia need to learn to live side by side again. This was stated by the President of the Republic Ilham Aliyev, News.ru reported.
The head of state spoke about this at a forum dedicated to the development and prospects of cooperation in the South Caucasus. The event is broadcast on Aliyev’s official YouTube channel.
The President stressed that Azerbaijan is open for cooperation. According to him, the state is ready to plan a common future, because countries are nevertheless neighbors, whether they like it or not. However, learning to live side by side again, Aliyev admitted, will not be easy.
Emotions are present, especially when Azerbaijanis visit the liberated territories and see total destruction. You can imagine what kind of emotions they are experiencing. But the role of politicians is to defend the existing agenda and explain that only through contacts, interaction, development, peace and security in the region can be ensured, said the politician.
He also noted that after the adoption of the trilateral agreement in November last year, Azerbaijan has already shown that it wants to cooperate.
