Prime Minister Denis Shmygal has promised to dismiss Yuriy Vitrenko as chairman of Naftogaz Ukrainy, as required by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, within 10 days, UNIAN reported.

The corresponding statement for the media was made by the chairman of the supervisory board of “Naftogaz” Claire Spottiswood.

It is noted that the chairman of the board is challenging the NAPC’s order to dismiss him. Such an appeal is initiated by the Chairman of the Management Board personally, without any consultation with the members of the Management Board or the Supervisory Board.

“Given his fiduciary responsibilities, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board immediately discussed the situation with the shareholder – the Government of Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal and the Minister of Justice took part in the discussion on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. undertook to make a final decision, including resolving the issue of termination of the contract with Yuri Vitrenko, as required, within 10 working days from June 15, 2021, “- said in a statement Spottiswood.

She noted that Vitrenko refused to voluntarily suspend his powers during this period.

“Now I have convened an extraordinary meeting of the supervisory board to discuss the removal of the chairman of the board. In order to ensure high standards of good corporate governance, I believe that such removal is in the interests of Naftogaz and Ukraine,” said the chairman of the supervisory board.

It is noted that the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz welcomes the immediate steps of the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers to urgently and finally resolve an important issue.
