(Read the full article on RIA.RU)

The situation with forest fires in Yakutia remains extremely tense and will remain so for a long time in the absence of precipitation, said the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev .
“Our situation is extremely tense … It will be difficult for a long time, because if there is no rain, the fires will not stop there, and as soon as the wind changes in the other direction, they can start burning to the west, east, south, north “, – said Nikolaev on the air of the program” Antonyms “with Anton Krasovsky on YouTube .
The head of the republic stressed that the authorities are now facing the most important task – to protect settlements from fire.
According to him, this summer has become the driest and hottest in the entire history of Yakutia, the temperature record has been broken practically throughout the entire territory of the republic. “We had 2 millimeters of precipitation in central Yakutia in June. The norm is 37 millimeters. That is, 18 times less than the norm,” he said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday instructed the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev to increase the group for extinguishing fires in Yakutia, and the regional leadership to prepare proposals to increase support for victims of emergencies. Zinichev ordered to send two Be-200ES multipurpose amphibious aircraft , an Il-76 aircraft of the Ministry and 200 rescuers to Yakutia .
