According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Ukrainian Club of Agrarian Business (UCAB) .
“For 7 months of 2021, exports of Ukrainian agro-industrial products to the EU increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, to 3.7 billion USD,” – said in a statement.
As of August 1, Ukraine has fully used the quotas for duty-free exports of agri-food products to the EU for 7 groups of goods: honey, cereals and flour, processed starch, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, poultry (volume for 3 quarters) and eggs (volume for 3 quarters).
Compared to the same period last year, the quota for 2 groups of goods was not used: sugar and corn. The sugar quota was not used due to the shortage on the Ukrainian market, and for corn – due to significant demand from China and the redirection of volumes through this sales channel.
Potentially, by the end of the year, quotas on processed cereals (currently used 99%), starch (78%) and corn (74%) may be closed.
According to the monthly report of the Monitoring of agri-food trade in the EU, in 2020 Ukraine became the fourth largest supplier of agricultural products to the European Union, second only to the United Kingdom, Brazil and the United States.
As Ukrinform reported, according to UCAB data, exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to the European Union in 2020 decreased by 10.8% compared to 2019. At the same time, last year Ukraine closed 11 quotas for duty-free exports to the EU for such groups of goods as honey, sugar, cereals and flour, processed starch, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juices, eggs, corn, poultry, processed products from cereals and starch.
