In January-June 2021, the volume of cargo transported on the Azerbaijani part of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) declined by 6.3 percent year-on-year to 20.325 million tonnes. The cargo turnover fell by 2 percent to 4.782 million tonnes/km.

According to the State Statistics Service, 11.407 million tonnes (56.1 percent) of all cargo were carried out by the road, 6.599 million tonnes (32.5 percent) – by rail, 2.320 million tonnes (11.4 percent) – by sea.

In the total volume of cargo transportation along the corridor, 22.9 percent or 4.653 million tonnes were transit cargo.
