The Ministry of Justice added Honest Vybory LLC to the register of media outlets performing the functions of a foreign agent. The Irkutsk Union of Bibliophiles Foundation for the Development of Book Culture was also included in the list of foreign agents. These organizations were created by individuals, previously declared foreign agents, at the request of the law, according to the website of the Ministry of Justice.
“In this case, we are talking about the conscientious fulfillment by the specified individuals of the requirements of the law established for persons included in the register, and aimed at increasing the information transparency of their activities”, –it says in the message.
Within a month after the person is recognized as a media-foreign agent, he is obliged to create a legal entity and notify the Ministry of Justice about it.
On November 17, A Just Russia – For Truth submitted to the State Duma a bill proposing to recognize the media as foreign agents by a court decision. According to the chairman of the faction in the State Duma Sergei Mironov, this option will be softer. Now the decision on the status of a foreign agent is made by the Ministry of Justice.
The initiative was supported by the Union of Journalists of Russia. According to the head of the association, Vladimir Solovyov, the rules on foreign agents were not initially worked out properly.
