A meeting of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border was held in Batken region, Total.kz reported citing Kabar news agency’s report.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic was led by the chairman of the State Committee for National Security Kamchybek Tashiev , the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, chairman of the State Committee for National Security Saimumin Yatimov .

According to Total.kz, the heads of the delegations of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tatarstan expressed full mutual understanding on the need for a peaceful settlement of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. An agreement was reached to intensify further description of the passage of the project line of the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border on the remaining sections of the state border. Following the meeting of government delegations, a joint protocol was signed.

The conflict began on April 28 over the section of the Golovnaya water distribution point located in the upper reaches of the Isfara River, the news agency reported. An attempt by one of the parties to install video surveillance there led to an incident between the citizens of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, who threw stones at each other, Total.kz said. Later, the situation escalated into a conflict with the participation of the military of the two countries and the use of firearms.
