The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, has arrived in Ukraine.

He announced this on Twitter .

Borrel noted that his first visit to Ukraine in 2022 began on January 4.

“In connection with the intensification of Russia’s military expansion, I am here to demonstrate the EU’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to support important reforms that are key to sustainability,” Borrell wrote.

He added that he intends to visit Stanytsia Luhanska and Kyiv.

According to the Foreign Ministry, it is planned that today, January 5, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Borrel will visit the demarcation line in Luhansk region.

Kuleba and Borrel will also hold talks.

Exacerbation on the border of Ukraine and Russia

On November 11, 2021, Bloomberg published an article about the risks of a full-scale Russian attack on Ukraine. The agency noted that American and European diplomats are seriously concerned about the current movement of Russian troops towards the Ukrainian border.

Moscow itself denies this, calling the autumn redeployment a “demonstration of strength.”

In early November, the Western media began to publish information with reference to satellite images of the active movement of the Russian military to the border with Ukraine.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine denied this information.
