The international payment system Visa has extended the validity of Russian cards abroad by one day, according to a message published on the company’s website. Citizens of the Russian Federation will be able to use them until March 11. Then the cards will stop working abroad.
Payments for domestic transactions within the Visa payment system will be terminated on March 11, 2022, — noted in the message.
On March 6, Visa and Mastercard announced the suspension of their activities in Russia. This means that cards issued by these companies on Russian territory will not work outside the country. In addition, cards of these systems issued by foreign financial institutions will not be serviced in Russia, they will not be able to pay for purchases or withdraw cash.
