President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the press service of the President’s Office, Zelensky noted Ukraine’s readiness to develop good neighborly relations with Hungary on the basis of mutual respect and constructive dialogue.

“We are ready to work together with you to realize the potential of our relations for the benefit of the peoples of Ukraine and Hungary,” Zelensky said.

“When Ukrainians and Hungarians together, everyone wins,” he added.

Zelensky thanked Orban for Hungary’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting, in particular, the Hungarian president’s participation in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform.

The interlocutors discussed further steps to build bilateral cooperation and agreed to intensify efforts to make progress on all issues currently on the agenda.

The head of state invited Orban to pay a visit to Ukraine.

Zelensky also noted the symbolism of today’s date for Ukraine and Ukrainian-Hungarian relations.

“Today marks the 30th anniversary of Hungary’s third recognition of Ukraine’s independence and the first state with which we have established diplomatic relations. We will always remember this show of solidarity and support for Ukraine,” he said.
