British Defense Secretary considers it unlikely that Western troops will be sent to Ukraine in the event of a Russian invasion-UNIAN.UA

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace called it “unlikely” that the West would help Ukraine with troops in the event of a large-scale Russian invasion .

According to Radio Svoboda , he said this in an interview with Spectator TV, published on December 18.

“It is a fact that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, so it is unlikely that anyone will send troops to Ukraine to challenge Russia… We should not deceive people about this,” Wallace said.

Earlier, he was ambivalent about possible military intervention, saying only that Britain could use “defense” against Moscow.

We will remind, on December 8 the president of the United States of America Joe Biden declared that doesn’t consider possibility of sending to Ukraine of the American troops unilaterally.

From the end of October this year, the Western media began to publish about the increase in the number of Russian troops and equipment near the borders of Ukraine. These maneuvers have caused serious concern in US and European government circles.

On November 21, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence Directorate, said that Russia had concentrated 92,000 troops near the border with Ukraine and was preparing for an invasion in late January-early February 2022 .

In turn, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that Russia had deployed 115,000 servicemen near the borders of Ukraine, in the occupied territories of Crimea and some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Moscow denies accusations of plotting an attack on Ukraine and points to the intensification of NATO forces near Russia’s borders.
