Ambassador of Ukraine threatens deterioration of relations with Germany in case of non-supply of weapons-UNIAN.UA

Germany is responsible for the situation in Ukraine and must provide the country with defense weapons.

This statement was made by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnyk in a comment to the newspapers of the German media group Funke, reports the German news channel  n-tv.

Melnyk called on Germany to “reject the morally flawed policy of blocking” and “urgently provide Ukraine with the necessary defense weapons.”

“We have every right to self-defense,” the ambassador said.

According to him, Germany bears “the same historical responsibility for Ukraine as for Israel.”

“Therefore, massive military support from Germany in Kyiv is expected to increase the cost of preventing an impending Putin attack,” Melnyk said.

In addition, the diplomat called on the German government to work hard to ensure that Ukraine joins NATO and the EU as soon as possible.

“Because only if Ukraine becomes an integral part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization will Putin be free from the temptation to attack us,” Melnyk said.

Today, the danger of Russian invasion of Ukraine remains high.

“All the signal lights are flashing bright red,” said the ambassador.

The Ambassador of Ukraine warned about the consequences in case of refusal.

“Germany’s refusal to supply defense weapons causes great dissatisfaction in Ukrainian society and can have serious consequences for bilateral relations,” the ambassador added.

It will be recalled that on December 22, German government spokesman Steffen Gebeshtrait said that  Germany was ready for any format of  talks with Russia on the situation around Ukraine. The representative of the German government added that Berlin itself prefers the “Norman format” with the participation of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia.
