The Cabinet of Ministers has ordered gas companies to sell natural gas to food producers-UNIAN.UA

(Read the full article on UNIAN.UA)

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution defining the mechanism for the mandatory sale of 20% of domestic gas to producers of socially important food products.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the government has approved the procedure for organizing and conducting exchange auctions for the sale of natural gas of its own production to meet the needs of economic entities whose main activity is the production of food products of significant social importance.

“This will allow uninterrupted supply of domestic gas for the production of such goods,” said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.

Thus, gas production companies are obliged to sell on the stock exchange within 20% of gas produced in Ukraine during the quarantine period, but not longer than May 1, 2022.

The main buyers will be end consumers – producers of social varieties of bread, flour, milk, oil, eggs, chicken, the list of which will be approved by the Ministry of Economy.

Producers of products and gas prices:

In late December, food producers said they were on the brink of extinction due to extremely high gas prices.

On December 18, ex-Verkhovna Rada Speaker Dmytro Razumkov said that Ukrhlibprom had sent an appeal to President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Cabinet of Ministers asking bread producers to provide a social price for gas, as the high cost of gas would also increase the cost of bread. accordingly, it will be expensive.

If the price of gas remains high, it will be unprofitable for the industry to stop working and they will stop production.

On December 24, 2021, the Ukrkondprom Association announced the possibility of shutting down the food industry due to extremely high gas prices.
