President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed General Mykola Zhernov head of the Kyiv City Military Administration during the war.

Zelensky said this during a video address.

He noted that all cities are important, “but let’s protect Kyiv – let’s protect the state.” Kyiv is the heart of our country and it must fight, and it will fight to win life, “the president said.

Zelensky said that he had appointed a professional military man to guarantee the defense of the city, to block the enemy’s approaches to our capital, so that Kyivites had everything they needed. According to him, Zhernov served as Commander of the Support Forces.
