The US Embassy in the Russian Federation was handed a note warning about the dangerous consequences of NATO provocations-TASS.RU

The Russian Foreign Ministry sent a note of protest to the US Embassy in Moscow on Wednesday warning of the dangerous consequences of provocations along the Russian borders. This was stated by the official representative of the department Maria Zakharova.

“The military activity of the United States and NATO member countries along the perimeter of Russian borders, including flights of military aviation and dangerous maneuvers of ships of the Navy, continues to gain momentum. From attempts to check the strength of the security system of our borders, the American military and their NATO allies have gone over to civilian air attacks. In connection with these provocative actions, the US Embassy in Moscow was handed a note of protest on December 8, warning about the dangerous consequences of such recklessness, “says Zakharova’s commentary posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website .

The document notes that Moscow, while reserving the right to respond to the corresponding challenges from the United States and the NATO members led by it, calls for a substantive dialogue on security guarantees and discussion of ways to reduce military-political tensions, including options for preventing dangerous incidents in the air and on the sea. “Otherwise, all means at our disposal will be used to prevent and eliminate emerging threats,” the diplomat said.

Zakharova stressed that the unacceptable and dangerous activity of the aviation of NATO member countries, when the flights of American military aircraft and US allies in the alliance are carried out without radio communication, providing flight plans and obtaining air traffic control clearance, carry serious risks to the safety of civil aircraft. “This violates the basic principles of international air navigation in accordance with the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation of 1944, as well as other norms of international law,” she stated.
